There may be several good reasons to have an area rug adorn the floor of your home, but there are quite a few reasons to not want them as well. Specifically, the number one reason why I dislike area rugs is the difficulty in cleaning them. More often than not, areas rugs are far to big to fit in a traditional washing machine, so if anything were to happen to them, say something spills on them, or someone walks on them with their muddy shoes, or if a pet has an accident, you’re pretty much forced to either clean them your self with special carpet-cleaning appliance, go out and rent a rug doctor from your local grocer, or call a cleaning service to have them take care of it. To some this may seem petty, however, to me, and I’m sure to several other people out there, this is enough to make you reconsider having an area rug in your home.
