Beautiful jewelry box

Monday, May 11th, 2009

In my days, jewelry boxes were just a box that all the jewelry went in, but now, you can buy watch jewelry boxes, earring jewelry boxes and boxes that are specifically made for necklaces only. There are a lot of very decorative ideas for the many different types of boxes. The women who stood up in my daughter’s wedding all got a jewelry box from her, and she picked one out for herself as well. In fact, she found even more than that when she went shopping online for all of her wedding accessories and reception supplies. They have some pretty nice suggestions for wedding decors, from traditional to themed. The décor my daughter and her groom went with had a fairy tale look and feel to it. She really did look like Cinderella at the ball in her lovely wedding gown and long veil, and I must admit my son in law looked just as good as Prince Charming in his stunning tux. It was a picturesque wedding. They left the wedding chapel in style, with a man in a tall white hat and long tails on his coat driving them away in a horse drawn carriage.
The reception had small white lights to add with the tulle that was draped above and tall flower vases scattered all about the room. The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. The reception tables twinkled even more with the silver tea light dove place card holders she selected. All the lady guests received small jewelry boxes with sculpted flowers and little crystals to add to its beauty. For the men in attendance, a key chain with a frog prince on it was given to them as a wedding favor. The girls that were in the wedding party got gorgeous wooden, silver plated discount jewelry boxes that had black velvet lining. My daughter and son in law had each of them engraved with the bride and grooms name and date of the wedding. The bridesmaids were very appreciative of what my daughter gave them as a thank you gift. The jewelry box she got them looked very nice, but it was in fact a wholesale jewelry box and I had one like it myself for a long time. The guys all got wine gifts sets with their names engraved on a small plaque. I felt those were novel thank you gift ideas.
The three-layered wedding cake they had was topped in debounair fashion with a small castle as the wedding cake topper. She even found a cake knife set that matched up with her storybook theme and champagne flutes to go with it. Many of her decorations and supplies were top of the line, but she came in well below where I had expected on their wedding budget. They were firm about the fact that they did not want us to cover the bills from the wedding even though, as parents of the bride, we made it clear to them that we expected to pay for everything.
I felt the warm tears flow down my face as the two of them gracefully floated around the floor for their first dance. It truly looked like something out of a fairytale, just like the ball in the Cinderella story. We had a fantastic time at the reception and the garter toss was unbelievably funny, with all the guys pushing and shoving each other out of the way so they could be the one to catch Cinderellas garter. My baby girl’s fantasies were fulfilled on a glorious wedding day, with all of her close friends and family members to share it with. Now they are on a honeymoon she’s always dreamed of. When they return, I want a full description of all the wonderful places they visited while sight seeing.
